Reminders!
Please remember all animals need to be halter broke at initial weigh in.
YOU must be able to unload and load your own animals at weigh in.

BeefBeef must be fully castrated and healed by the Initial Weigh-In.

Goats, Hogs, and LambsCastration of Lambs, Goats and Hogs must be initiated before Initial Weigh-in and they must be fully castrated and healed prior to Final Weigh-In.

Castration means that the testicles are severed completely from the body. Un-castrated, stag or short-sacked animals will not be tagged.
If an animal is suspected of not being fully castrated at the Fair Weigh-in/Market Show the Auction Committee reserves the right to remove the animal from the Market Show and Sale. If there is a dispute the owner of the animal can hire, at their expense a veterinarian to confirm proper castration was completed.

The following forms are required to be completed before Initial Weigh In. Select the buttons below to register online prior to the Initial Weigh In scheduled above.
Beef Rate of Gain Contest
- Rate of Gain contest is completely optional and in no way tied to eligibility to show your animal or sell it at the auction.
- Individuals must indicate if they want to participate in the ROG contest at registration for initial beef weigh-in.
- In order for an individual's steer to be eligible for the ROG it must weigh at least 700lbs at 1st weigh in on February 5, 2022.
- ROG winner will be determined at fair by dividing the difference of final weight and initial weight by the number of days in between the two weigh-ins.
- There will be one rate of gain winner in beef each year. No separation between 4H and FFA
- A tie in the final rate of gain will be determined by the highest placing in the show, not by ribbon awarded.
- The winner of the ROG contest will receive a buckle and a $100 premium as well as having their steer marked as ROG champion in the sale catalog.
Initial Weigh In Weights
Beef - Less than 1050 lbs
Swine - Less than 185 lbs
Sheep - Less than 105 lbs
Goats - Less than 80 lbs
Final Weigh In Weights
Beef - 1100 lbs to 1500 lbs (Steers weighing 1451 lbs to 1500 lbs will be auctioned at 1450 lbs)
Swine - 225 lbs to 300 lbs (Hogs weighing 286 lbs to 300 lbs will be auctioned at 285 lbs)
Sheep - 105 lbs to 160 lbs
Goats - 60 lbs to 110 lbs
Market Rabbits - 4-5 1/2 lbs each, under 75 days of age
Market Poultry - 4+ lbs each, No more than 50 days of age
Market Turkeys - Hens at least 13 lbs, Toms at least 20 lbs, 16-18 weeks of age

Scrapie Tags
All sheep and goats must have a scrapie tag at the Initial Weigh In and the information is required on the registration form.
If the producer has not scrapie tagged your animal, you should tag the animal with your farm premise tag. If you do not currently have scrapie tags, you may obtain tags and applicator for your farm from USDA by calling Barbara Palermo at 1-866-873-2824 or or email her at [email protected]. The process takes about two weeks.

FAIR CHECK-IN
All large animal livestock (Beef, Goats, Sheep, Swine) must enter the fairgrounds through the Lana Avenue parking area entrance (Blue Gate) and be veterinarian checked before gaining entrance. All large livestock market animals are required to present their health records for review by the veterinarian and ALL sheep and goats must have a scrapie tag.
Rabbits, Chickens and Turkeys will be checked in their species area.

FINAL WEIGH-IN
Required for Large Livestock at Final Weigh-In
1. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE been weighed in at the Initial Weigh-in.
2. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE completed and signed Market Animal Health Record.
IN ADDITION TO 1 & 2 ABOVE:
3. SHEEP & GOATS MUST HAVE a scrapie tag.
4. BEEF MUST MEET BRAND INSPECTOR REQUIREMENTS BELOW.
BEEF BRAND INSPECTOR REQUIREMENTS:
1. Oregon Transportation Certificate - See form #1 below.
All beef must have every time you haul your animal.
If calf is born and raised on your farm, 4-H/FFA members MUST OWN the cow that delivered calf.
If so, write "self-raised steer" in the comment section.
Otherwise, use Change of Ownership Brand Inspection Exemption and Transportation Certificate
These forms come in a book and can be purchased from the Brand Inspector or Woodburn Auction for $1.50/book.
Copies are allowed.

Animals purchased in Oregon require this form to be filled out by the Seller and provided to the Buyer.

For Brand Inspection States this form must be signed by Brand Inspectors.
For No Brand Inspection States, you will need to provide a Bill of Sale.

Animals purchased from Auction Sale yards or Beef Sales issue this form with the Brand Inspector signature.

Final Weigh-in Times
We will only have one certified scales for large animals and one certified scale for small animals, so we have made the following schedule to accommodate everyone.

Thank you cards for Livestock Auction Buyers will no longer be collected or handled by the MCJLA.
MCJLA will no longer provide thank you cards and envelopes.
Leaders need to assist their members in thanking the buyers.
We will be providing a listing of buyers name and address by sale order on Sunday in the Livestock Office at the fair.

Market Species Health Record
Health Reports for each Market Animal is required at the Final Weigh In. Please follow instructions provided with the forms to complete the records. Please have your health records available for the Veterinarian at the vet check point prior to entering the fairgrounds.
Rate of gain is not required, and ROG charts have been moved to the reference tab.
